The town of Nowzad

Looking onto the east side of the town of Nowzad. It is not always sunny in Afghanistan!

A common sight in towns across Afghanistan - not just from the constant fighting but illness and disease are the Afghan people's worst enemy.

The mountains to the north of Nowzad start to gain in height - all are unclimbed. The mountains provide the much needed water for the area.

The mud and straw built narrow streets are typical of any Afghanistan town or village. A stray dog will not find much to eat in a deserted place like this.

Fighting with the Taliban has left its mark. The local people fled to safer areas which has left the stray and abandoned dogs to fend for themselves.
